- Dr. Robert Aruho is the Head of Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy where he is leading the reintroduction of Mountain Bongo in partnership with Kenya Wildlife Service. He holds a Master’s degree in International Animal Health from the University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from Makerere University. He is a member of the IUCN Species Survival Commission Antelope, Pangolin, Giraffe and Okapi Specialist Groups.
- Dr Aruho is dedicated to the restoration and conservation of endangered African species majoring in translocations and reintroductions. He served as the Senior Wildlife Veterinarian and Head of Species Programs at Uganda Wildlife Authority for over 10 years. His career has taken him through many African countries, including Zimbabwe, Botswana, the DRC, Namibia, Uganda, and Kenya working with government and private organizations. His work has been featured extensively in media such as the New York Times, The BBC Documentary- The Gentle Giants, Endangered IUCN Red list Documentary, and on NTV Wild.
- Dr Aruho is technology enthusiast. In 2018, together with colleagues from Chester Zoo recorded for the first time in history, the presence of the lowland bongo population in Semliki National Park, Uganda.
- His interests include reading, hiking, wildlife photography and storytelling.
